Valentine's Day Event and ARF Bowling Event

Sorry, I've been slacking with my blog. I've been very very busy with Miss CT preparation as well as school and being a part of two school productions. I was very honored to attend three events in the past month, the Miss Greater Waterbury/ Brass City Pageants, a Valentine's Day event at the Assisted Living Home as well as an ARF Bowling Event.

Amber Caron, a former Miss CT local titleholder, invited the Greater North Haven team to assist with a Valentine's Day event at her work. We were able to pass out food, dance with the residents and hopefully make their day a little brighter. I was also able to sing two songs and everyone loved both which was great! I would like to thank Amber for inviting us and I'm sure we will be back in the future.

Last night, I attended a bowling event for the Animal Rescue Foundation hosted by Aubrey Heidorn, Miss Wolcott. Our team bowled against the Greater Waterbury team and I am proud to say we came out victorious! :) Competition also started between Ashley and I but I,unfortunately, lost to her with a score of 103 to 113. I am just glad to say that none of us will be bowling for our Miss CT talent. ;) It was a very fun night and a great turn-out for both Aubrey and ARF.

Until next time...

Miss Fairfield County/Miss New Haven County 2011 Pageant

Hello everyone,

Last weekend, I attended the Miss Fairfield County/ Miss New Haven County and Outstanding Teen Pageants. It is hard to believe that it was one of the final locals of the 2011 season which means Miss Connecticut is right around the corner. The pageant was wonderful (hats of to the Fairfield/ New Haven team) and to all the wonderful girls competing. And let me just say, it is almost as nerve-wrecking sitting in the audience as it is waiting on stage to see who will have the honor to represent this organization. Congrats to Acacia, Alexandria, Andee, and Emily on their new accomplishments and I'm looking forward to spending Miss CT week with them!

A Saturday as Miss Greater Hamden's OT

Hi everyone,

I hope you had a lovely holiday season and have begun to enjoy the New Year thus far! Yesterday, Danielle, Alexa, and I took a trip, once again, to the Square Foot Theater for the Semester Showcase.  It was an afternoon filled with various acts showcasing what each student had learned in the past weeks. My sister queens and I were very excited to also be able to perform throughout the show. I performed "A Change in Me," from Beauty and the Beast which happens to be one of my favorite songs from the show and I hope the audience liked it too! :) After the show, Amy, Danielle, and I (and of course the mom's) headed to Chili's in the hopes of having a fundraiser there soon and they gladly accepted. So, I will keep everyone posted on our fundraising dates because I hope you can join us for the night!

At night, my family as well as Danielle's gathered around my living room to watch the Super Bowl of Pageantry, Miss America. I was happy to see Brittany making many appearances throughout the night and even though see wasn't crowned Miss America, she is still our Miss America. Britt is an amazing young women and  I know that she is a wonderful role model for me and many of the other girls striving to become a state titleholder.  It was an exciting night and ended with Miss Nebraska being crowned Miss America. And just a little fun fact, Teresa, our new Miss America, is 17 and the youngest Miss America crowned. Just goes to show that age is only a number and shouldn't limit your capabilities.

Before Miss America. (See even pageant girls wear sweats!)
Much love and best wishes,
Brianna

Official Crowning

On December 23rd, the Greater North Haven team headed back to the Jared Andrew Studio for the official crowning of Alexa and I. We both received our new sashes and were crowned by Ashley. (I was able to be crowned twice since Ashley had a little trouble for the first time around.) It was fun night, as usual, with our wonderful team. Happy Holidays everyone!

Toydrive for the Children's Hospital

Yesterday, Ashley, Tiffany George (Miss Litchfield County), Brittany Decker (Miss CT), and I went to the Bristol Wal-Mart to collect toys for the Connecticut Children's Hospital.  You may or may not know, that a year ago I spent about a week in the Children's Hospital and let me tell you that the hospital is great.  So, anytime I can give back to them I try too, after all the help they gave me. Last night, thanks to a ton of generous donors, we collected 144 toys and $70 for the hospital and its patients. Amazing, right?! I'd like to thank Scott for inviting us and for all the wonderful people who donated to better the lives of others.

Passing out flyers.

Brittany's Send-off

Today, we all gathered at Rocky Hill High School to celebrate Brittany's Send-off to Miss America.  If you don't know Brittany, she is a wonderful person and I'm very privileged to have known her for a few years now.  She has worked very very hard for her journey to Miss America and I know it will all pay off on the Las Vegas stage. The audience was lucky enough today to preview her Miss America wardrobe and let me just say that it is stunning! She is going to be amazing and I have no doubt that she will show those judges what Connecticut's made off! :) Tune into ABC on January 15th to see Brittany at Miss America!

A Day of Appearances

Saturday was a pageant-filled day for Danielle and I.  First, we were able to attend a bake sale held by Erin Ward, a former Miss Wolcott Outstanding Teen. As usual, Erin did a wonderful job and raised quite a bit of money with her delicious desserts for the Animal Rescue Foundation that is rebuilding its shelter in Terryville. Then, we took a trip to the Brass Miller Center Mall to help sell historical photographs of Waterbury for the Waterbury Lion's Club. We even made a few sales! ;) At night, we headed back to Hamden to the Square Foot Theater to see another performance of "A Snow White  Christmas." It was just as cute as the night before and all of the cast was excited to see us again.

However, the best part of my night didn't come until later. A mother of one of the cast members told me how her daughter went home the night before and printed out a picture that we had taken with her and put it in her scrapbook.  The young girl had told her mother that she wanted to be just like us when she was older.  It brought a smile to my face, yet again, knowing that we were able to be a role model for that young girl.  And that's what the Miss America Organization is all about.
